Agile FT to focus on technology strategies as business drivers

Addis Ababa, 21st January, 2010: Agile Financial Technologies (Agile FT), a leading technology partner to dominant players in the BFSI (Banking, Financial Services and Insurance) sector, and its representative partner in Ethiopia, MKTY Technologies conducted a conference on the 21st of January, 2010 at the Hilton Addis, aimed at showcasing technology initiatives to the MicroFinance Sector. The event was supported by the Association of Ethiopian Microfinance Institutions and was well attended, with over 20 MFIs participating in the same.

Kalpesh Desai, CEO at Agile FT, speaking at the event, said “Microfinance institutions (MFIs) face various challenges in terms of managing and streamlining their processes, creation of specialised products to service their borrowers, monitoring their loan portfolio, and last but not the least – ensuring that they have the ability to reach out to their clients in rural and remote areas. The business model is highly dependent upon the effective use of technology and this is what we wish to demonstrate. We are committed to increasing our support presence here in Ethiopia through MKTY Technologies and are confident of supporting the MFIs here in their initiatives.”

Agile FT demonstrated how its core microfinance software, Agilis Universal Microfinance Solution, and Agilis Door-step-banking (using mobile POS devices to enable enrolment, collections and transactions in the field) would work in tandem to create a strong technology foundation for the MFI.
